Play, learn, and grow with us at the Fyne Den

Free childcare places are available for 3 and 4-year-olds, all year round.

Funded by the Scottish Government, you can get up to 1,140 hours of early learning and childcare a year if your child is 3 or 4 years old. Some 2-year-olds are also eligible, as are 5-year-olds opting for deferred school entry.

We can offer two ways of using your funding:

Option 1. - 48 weeks in a year (all year) giving as a rough guide, 23 hours 45 mins of free childcare a week

or

option 2. -  38 weeks (term time only), giving as a rough guide, 30 hours of free childcare a week.

We can also offer very competitively priced extra sessions around these hours to suit your needs.

At the Den, we have a team of professionals dedicated to early years,

working with small groups in a brand new purpose-built setting with easy access to the great outdoors and our unique sand play area.

Our locally based staff have many years of experience between them

and reports from the Care Inspectorate and Council have praised their caring and nurturing skills

as well as their ability to create a homely, safe and creative environment for the children in their care.

They valued and were taking account of parents' knowledge and views of their child's development needs, interests, preferences, and personality when gathering the information they needed to develop and review each child's personal plan and support their transitions. They knew the importance of providing warm, nurturing and responsive care to support children's well-being and development...they were developing trusted and loving relationships with children to nurture and help them feel valued, safe and secure. ..

Registration for the funded care takes place in late January each year via Argyll and Bute Council website.

We are handily located at Clachan, Cairndow just off the A83 at the head of Loch Fyne,

45 mins from Dunoon and Helensburgh, 15 mins from Inveraray and Strachur, and 30 mins from Lochgoilhead.

Choosing childcare is an important decision for you and your family, therefore we hope the following information will answer questions about our aims and standards of childcare and education to enable you to have complete confidence that you are making the right choice.
Our aim is to provide a safe place where adults and children care for both each other and their environment and take great pride in it.  It is a place where children can learn at their own pace following their natural development and be encouraged to become confident, self-disciplined and active learners and explorers. They can be themselves and can learn to really love learning.
At Cairndow Community Childcare we pride ourselves on our highly qualified and experienced team. Our staff are passionate about the role they play for a short period in a child’s life and believe a child’s early experiences are their preparation for life.

What is it like for a child?

Every day at Cairndow Community Childcare is filled with a range of individual and group activities that are centred around the individual interests of each child.

In each of our rooms we have created a safe, caring and nurturing environment that supports every child’s growing needs for independence and plays a vital part in children’s wellbeing. The rooms have a natural home like feeling that is comforting for the children.

We provide a stimulating and individualised curriculum that focuses on the development of the whole child. Our curriculum is rich in sensory exploration and the children are encouraged to explore the natural world outside through hands on activities. Babies thoroughly enjoy exploring the treasure baskets whilst toddlers busy themselves in activities that are challenging yet simple and achievable.

The materials we offer the children are real and natural which helps the children to make connections between their learning experience and reality.

We believe the children should feel a sense of belonging at nursery therefore each room includes child sized furniture and resources accessible at their level. The resources and furniture we use are designed to encourage independence and foster children’s self-confidence.
